All auditions are held at our rehearsal studios at University Heights
Community Center, 5031 University Way N.E., Seattle, WA 98105. We ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes early to complete necessary paperwork.

What to expect:
Kids will enter the audition in groups of 5 or 6.
You will generally have 3 to 5 minutes individually to present your audition.
(Do not partner with other actors ahead of time for auditions).

The full audition will take approximately 30 minutes.

You will perform a 30-second monologue. This can be a scene from your favorite movie, play or could even be a poem. This will give us a chance to see your acting.

You will also be expected to sing a song with which you are comfortable. The song can be from the show, a song you’ve sung in a previous show, a favorite song, or a simple school song. (Bring your own sheet music in a 3-ring binder if you want to have live accompaniment from a piano player. You may also bring a CD to sing to or sing without accompaniment).

Everyone who auditions will have a place in the production.

Additional Information:
At the audition you will be given several forms to complete.  If you have a weekly conflict that cannot be avoided you must note that on your conflict form.  Beyond unavoidable sick days or family conflicts known at the time of the audition, you must be present for all scheduled rehearsals.

It’s also important to note that although our rehearsal schedule is two days per week, as we near the performance dates there will be a few extra rehearsals called, usually on Saturdays, to fine tune the show and insure we present a first class production to our audiences.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
Please note: Tuition payments, once received by Broadway Bound, are non-refundable. We ask for the first installment at auditions to ensure commitment to the production, regardless of role. If you pay the Early Bird tuition and then withdraw at a later time, rrefunds will be determined by the standard installment schedule.

Participation in Broadway Bound’s production of RENT: SCHOOL EDITION for ages 13 and up costs a total of $850, which includes:

  • $50 non-refundable audition fee (to be paid prior to auditions)
  • $800 tuition, to be paid in full at auditions or in three installments
  • $325 at auditions
  • $275 about one month into rehearsal
  • $200 about two months into rehearsal

We also offer an early-bird discount of $750, including the $50 audition fee, for a total discount of $100. The early bird discount deadline is January 30.

SHOW STAFFING
Please be aware that Broadway Bound has a volunteer requirement as part of our program. This year we have instituted a new policy which will be required of all families. Please note the following:

At our first parent’s meeting, we will be requiring each family to sign a volunteer commitment form. The form will offer two choices: First, and easiest, an option to pay, at that time, a $100 staffing fee to relieve the family of any volunteer requirement; or secondly, a specific commitment to a specific support job on specific dates. For those choosing the volunteer option, a credit card number will be required to be kept on file, and any uncompleted hours will be charged against the card.

SCHOLARSHIPS
We also have a need-based scholarship program. Students who receive free or reduced lunch at school are eligible for a full or partial Broadway Bound scholarship—we would need a copy of the school lunch approval letter with their scholarship application. For students who aren’t enrolled in the free/reduced lunch program but are still interested in applying for a scholarship, their parents would need to submit a copy of their most recent tax return with the scholarship application.
